While Tinker Hatfield’s design for the Jordan 14 silhouette was inspired by the sleek high performance of luxury sports cars, especially Michael Jordan’s prized Ferrari, the latest collaborative take on the model lands, roughly, a couple of millennia prior to the invention of the automobile.
Influential Hong Kong imprint CLOT have outfitted the opulence of the Jordan 14 with colors and motifs inspired by traditional Chinese elements. A suede upper features a ‘sepia stone,’ ‘terra blush,’ and ‘desert sand’ colorway; a tribute to the terracotta army discovered in the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The co-branded tongue features an ornamental embellishment in the style of a traditional scroll, while the prosperity symbol of a knot and coin are attached to the shoe’s heel.
